The Film, Recolognize Cologne, reconsiders the colonial history of Germany by examining the history of Cameroon, a suppressed story of conquest and power-politics. By making the current presence of people from previous German colonies in Germany a subject of discussion, the film clearly shows the continuity and development of racist conventions, restrictions and stereotypes but also the resistance that emerged against these developments; resistance formed by both the former colonies and by the Cameroon citizens who have lived or are currently living in Germany.
