NEWSPAPER - INTRODUCTION

Instead of producing expensive catalogues, which often gather dust in museum archives, we want to work with a medium that is cheap, easy to distribute and available to all. The newspaper published by Shedhalle will include essays, programme notes and a calendar of events. Moreover, the newspaper is supposed to be a medium for documenting shorter and less visible practices and projects, which might otherwise get lost in the institutional everyday life – but which are nevertheless critically relevant and enriching with regard to the kind of discourse and understanding of art that we are interested in.

The bilingual (German/English) newspaper is a possibility to operate on the inside and on the outside: in Switzerland members and colleagues and institutions can be informed whereas outside of Switzerland the newspaper allows for pursuing the Shedhalle programme without being physically on the spot.
