The understanding of artistic practice within the academic studies and its relationship to the conditions that make it possible and place value on it are recorded and questioned. The sketched out and commented figures focus on the constantly recurring tendency to work in an isolated manner and the right to autonomy that is linked to it. In order to be able to speak of autonomy at all, however, dependencies have to be considered through ongoing examinations of prevailing conditions and in the conduct with respect to these. Only by incorporating the question of what determines autonomy can autonomizing processes occur in artistic practice. The shown work is a slightly revised version of a contribution for the publication No Credits.. It was published on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Fine Arts study course of the HGKZ (Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst) in November 2006 and can be found at the entrance of this exhibition.
