On political issues and during aggressive voting campaigns scare tactics are frequently used to manipulate the forming of opinion. The political poster campaign against the Schengen-Agreements (2005) induces fear, which is allegedly caused by foreigners throughout the country. By doing so foreigners are stylized into an uncanny threat. By conferring the visual language of this poster onto real people, the absurdity of this means of politicising is exposed.
