interpixel (Eva-Maria Würth and Philippe Sablonier)

In the photo action and installation entitled headlines, interpixel addresses the symbiosis between politics and media. While media promotion of the cult of personality serves to strengthen power structures in totalitarian systems, freedom of the press favours increasing personification of politics in democratic societies as well. In the heat of competition for ratings and votes, objective politics are watered down into emotionally charged sound-bit politics with marketable entertainment value. Heads become increasingly more important, content increasingly less. Populism enjoys a heyday. Generalizations, accusations and personal attacks provide fodder for the press, which is processed into "headlines". A self-referential system begins to emerge in which the importance of political processes is measured in terms of the degree of media interest. At the opening on 29 October, interpixel will invite guests to pose in front of the camera themselves. Why not join in? Test your own populist potential!

interpixel use communication and interaction as artistic resources. They use new media and build on the interplay between the production and reception of art. In their installations and actions, both within and outside of the art system, they explore social issues and political processes.
