We become Austrian (2002 - 2003)
Songül Boyraz

In February there was a party in the Vienna City Hall for all "New Austrians" who had just received their Austrian citizenship.

Wiener Tschuschenkapelle (Slavko Ninic)
"...how would you translate "Tschuschen?" Gypsy? Gypsy means Roma, and Roma means people ... If one were a pessimist, ... there is no happiness anywhere for people. But we are different. We say, we know exactly, we march on to where happiness is. We say that when we become Austrians, we will be happy ... And so in that spirit, all the best! ..."

I am one of the "New Austrians".
I come from Turkey.
I’m from the former Yugoslavia.
I’m from Nigeria.
I’m from Egypt.
We are all Austrians. We’re the "New Austrians".
But are we different.
What makes us different?
Our religion, our culture or just the way we look?
What does my difference do for my new homeland?
Acceptance and/or tolerance are indifferent.
