THEMATIC PROJECT SERIES - INTRODUCTION

This format is first and foremost about long-term investigations of a topic at an artistic, curatorial and scientific level. This investigation can be carried out in several stages, chapters or "in progress" and aims to counter the idea of "package exhibitions". Within the frame of the thematic project series, the idea is to work from one subject to the next over the period of one year and investigate different aspects in three or four smaller exhibitions. This procedure allows visitors, participants as well as the Shedhalle team to engage more intensively with an issue or thematic complex. The idea is that a sequence of chapters can be read as a synoptic narration but also that individual chapters can be read independently. We are interested in artistic formats, such as fieldwork, socio-political intervention and scientific analysis. In addition, there will also be lecture series, symposia and round-table discussions.

Chapter I: 30 October - 19 December 2004
Symposium: 11 December 2004
Chapter II: 29 January - 27 March 2005
Chapter III: June/July 2005
