Sex&Space has been developed at the Shedhalle throughout 1996. In 1997, the project was invited to the "steirische herbst" to be continued at the Forum Stadtpark in Graz. In an ongoing process which lasted more than one year, the project brought together forty-five artists, theoreticians, architects, and feminist activists to reflect on the issue of space as a form of representation of social structures. The focus of the participants has been on the question whether gender difference is already incribed in the imagination of space and how gender discourse could attempt to deconstructed it. These questions were explored through the use of a wider range of media including an exhibition, lectures, talkshows, a she-dj workshop, the production of a fanzine, and a homepage.
